pBuzz in Australia – meet Julie
Discover the joy of music in seconds, learn to play in minutes and enjoy for a lifetime – pBuzz, a completely new musical instrument, is now available in Australia. Originally a music publishing company, Warwick Music Group (WMG) diversified to become makers of a series of internationally acclaimed and award-winning plastic music instruments.
The innovative company’s latest venture – pBuzz – is designed to widen the appeal of plastic instruments, and engage a brand new market. Following huge success internationally, including in schools throughout the UK and USA, pBuzz has arrived in Australia.
Hi, I’m Julie Fews. I’m the latest addition to the Warwick Music Group team as the Education Consultant in Australia, based in Sydney. With a background teaching, performing and as a primary school band director, I was delighted to be asked to help spread the word about WMG’s instruments here in Australia.
pBuzz is a unique pre-brass instrument designed to introduce young children to brass playing. Since the launch of pBuzz, it’s won awards in both the UK and America, including gold in the Primary Teacher awards, celebrating products that stimulate children’s development, and the Creative Child award for top musical performance. It was also shortlisted in the 2017 Music Teacher Awards for Excellence in the Best Music Education Product category.
This exciting initiative is now being introduced to Stage 1 students in Australian schools, including learning resources and support available for musical and non-musical teachers. Oatlands Public School in Sydney will be one of the first schools in Australia to try pBuzzes with some Stage 1 students in Term 4. Follow us on Facebook @oatlandspublicschool for regular updates and on our website, www.oatlands-p.schools.nsw.edu.au to keep up with the progress the kids make with pBuzz!
